WHAT WE ALWAYS DO

The process.

01
DEBRIS REMOVAL

Everything that doesn’t belong—sticks, stones, leaves, weeds, stray mulch—drawn out by a commercial walk-behind vacuum.

02
POWER BRUSHING

Counter-rotating bristles lift and revive matted fibers, working out the debris that settles deep in the turf bed.

03
BLOW-OFF

A final high-velocity pass that returns the surface to a like-new finish.

04
SANITIZE & DEODORIZE

Hospital-grade OxyTurf, edge to edge. A 10-minute dwell kills bacteria and neutralizes odor at the source, finished with a clean lemongrass scent. No rinse, no residue.

WHAT WE CAN ALSO DO

When the job calls for more.

01
POWER WASH

For the messes a power brush can’t beat—dried-on pet waste, diarrhea, the works. A high-pressure rinse breaks it down and flushes it clean.

02
EXTRACTION

Once the OxyTurf is applied, our Nilfisk 4500 commercial extractor draws the solution back out of the turf, lifting dissolved bacteria and grime along with it. A deeper clean reserved for heavily used surfaces.

03
EDGE REPAIR

We re-nail any lifting edges and tuck them back down. Holds the turf’s shape, extends its life, and clears stray nails before they catch a foot or paw.

04
INFILL REPLENISHMENT

Fresh infill helps stand matted fibers back upright and adds years to the turf’s life.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is professional turf cleaning necessary?
Artificial turf cannot break down organic waste the way natural grass does. Pet urine, fecal matter, and debris accumulate in the infill layer where bacteria and ammonia compounds concentrate over time. Surface rinsing does not reach this layer. Without active sanitization, ammonia levels rise, odor becomes persistent, fibers mat and compact, and pathogenic bacteria establish themselves in the surface. Professional cleaning addresses the infill layer directly—where the hygiene and odor problem actually lives.
Is the cleaning safe for pets and children?
Yes. Our sanitizer is a stabilized accelerated hydrogen peroxide formula that eliminates 99.9% of contaminants and biodegrades entirely to water and oxygen. No bleach, no ammonia, no chemical residue. There is no required wait time—pets and children can use the turf immediately once the surface has dried, typically within minutes. The zeolite infill we use for replenishment is a natural volcanic mineral with no synthetic additives.
What makes your service different?
Most turf cleaning services stop at the surface. We treat the infill layer on every job: debris removal, power brushing, blow-off, and hospital-grade sanitization come standard on every visit—no tiers, no cutting corners. We use commercial-grade equipment and are fully licensed and insured.
How often should turf be cleaned in Charleston?
For residential turf with pets, we recommend a minimum of every 3 to 4 months. South Carolina’s heat and humidity accelerate bacterial growth and ammonia buildup, meaning odor and hygiene issues develop faster here than in cooler climates. A quarterly recurring plan is the most practical schedule for most pet owners.
Do I need to be home?
No. You do not need to be present. We only need access to the turf area. If you have a gated yard or access code, you can provide that at booking. We will notify you when the job is complete.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Environmental Hygiene Company LLC is fully licensed in the State of South Carolina and carries $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate general liability, $1M auto liability, and $1M workers’ compensation coverage. A certificate of insurance is available upon request.
